Registered 'Sexually Violent' Offender Reports Move To Newburgh

A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted sexually abusing two female victims under the age of 8 has reported a move in Orange County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 64-year-old Alfred Hardy, who has moved to a residence on Grand Street in Newburgh.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Hardy as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Hardy sexually abused his two victims, 7 and 5 years old, unlawfully imprisoning them in July 1988. He was convicted of first-degree aggravated sexual abuse in October the following year and convicted to a term of between 100 months and 25 years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Newburgh City Police Department.
